I like the way you altered words, but the dash on the strike doesn't fit really.
When you use strikes, it's like an idea that you wanted to say, but didn't really want to admit to, so a sentance should always be able to read without it. Think about when you're writing and you cross out your mistakes. That's what the strike looks like and usually represents.
